The Truth About Nesting

Let's talk about the insanity that slowly sneaks in and then BOOM, it's just there. Everything has to be situated immediately ... It doesn't matter if you've been dreaming about it for six months and you have three left to go before the babe is even about to show up, it just MUST be completed. These are the kinds of things people say and I think, "probably just you." or "maybe that happens to most, but I'm so not that way." SURPRISE, it's real. And it really happens. I don't care if your type A, B or C. Pregnancy is such an out of control experience that it creates a tick where even if it's just a corner in the house, the situated and arranged space makes every mama-to-be feel a bit of respite.

The actual day that I found out I was pregnant, previous to telling my husband that we were expecting, I had a private pin board named "Mini Mitch" created and was pinning away. This board has become a favorite little place to pin just the cutest things I could find and see if my whole vision fit in the same puzzle. I've written little snippets about the most important parts of his room beneath the photos. Ep! Hope you enjoy. xx-k

Pic 1:
The rocker is actually from Amazon! My sweet mom and dad gifted it to us since my grandparents gave them one for us as babes.. It's their thing. I super love it. SO comfortable and offers some support so that my back doesn't hurt from sinking deeply in to it.
Pic 3:
That sweet onsie, "Keeper" - as my Grandpa always called my husband when he was my boyfriend. I seriously thought that my Grandpa meant that Justin was the keeper of me.. Not that he was the one to keep! Ha! So slow to the game friends, it took me 3 FULL years to connect those dots. It's from the cutest etsy shop The Bee and The Fox. They have all of the sweetest goods, click around.

That side table was Justin's Great Grandma Helen's. At 8.5 months pregnant, I sanded it (with help from my sweet cousin) and stained it and hooray, it looks better than new. It's my favorite to find solid goodies and make them look fresh. I mean, I hate it but I love it.

First, the negative space above the dresser will soon be filled with b&w images of our entire family. That will be cause for a photo posted on the IG account.. But I couldn't wait any longer to share. Oh man, this guy. SO - MANY - HOURS. I found it on Craigslist... After searching for a few months of looking for the perfect + reasonably priced mid century dresser that would mock the one I loved at West Elm, I quit typing in Mid Century and started clicking through just dressers and I found this little treat. $25!! But it was missing it's top drawer, had a few deep cuts and maybe a slight fragrance. I'll go through the steps of the how to in another post but after hours of labor, I love this guy. Maybe I should name him.. It may be easier than finding a name for our child.
Pic 9: Oh that flag! I started the hunt for a flag that size that wasn't $1,000 18 months ago... And thanks to Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market, I found it just in the nick of time. I think it's dreamy and perfect for the room - especially for a July 5th due date baby.

Curious about how something was done? Let me know! Love to share.
