Persimmons + Pine | Curating Home

Persimmons + Pine | Curating Home

Guys! I had a baby.. I’ve been quiet on the blog and a little slow on IG and while it’s been a nice little pause during the holidays in the midst of what is often people’s most busy time of life, I’ve really missed it. I love having time spent typing away on my little keyboard while tucked away in the corner of a cozy coffee shop or at the dinner table with a glass of wine when the house is still in the night.

I couldn’t let these winter feels completely pass without sharing just a little of December, so here we are. While Christmas is not my favorite, I adore the simple decor that can be offered. While our tree has been stripped of it’s dressings, she’s still standing tall in our living room. The rest of the decor has been collected and is awaiting it’s return to the attic. I’m sticking to the rule that if I didn’t use it this year, it goes to Goodwill. As you’re packing up yours and finding items left in boxes that were unused or items that are kind of falling apart and didn’t really bring much of a spark to your home this year, I’d encourage you to do the same. Purging feel wonderful on a soul level. It’s so healthy and helps us start a little bit more freshly in the new year. xx-k

I could leave my santa mugs out year round.

I made this sweet string of garland for the window with some leftovers I had from other projects and while I anticipated loving it when coming up the drive, I’ve never once noticed it from that perspective. However, I find myself loving it a dozen times a day from inside and for sure don’t want it to go anywhere.

Our tree needed a little more love this year than what our initial offerings were (due to a small toddler hiding most of my ornament hooks) so I clothes pinned persimmons to the tree and I think I’ll do it every year from here forward. Such a sweet touch.

Quite possibly everyone’s favorite on IG this season was my advent calendar display this year. The advent calendar is hand written + designed by my girl, Coley Kuyper. Also, I straight up stole all of the inspiration from her own display of her advent calendar. Next year, I’ll likely use a different surface in the house to help it stay put. I loved the touch of pine branches and persimmons though oh and the mismatched clothes pins. It’s the little things, friends.

Of course a few girlfriends and I hosted another girlfriend’s baby Sprinkle during the holidays… I loved letting the Christmas decorations blend into the evening. We served copious amounts of bread and butter with a tomato based soup and a small charcuterie spread. What a sweet evening…. We had a real fire burning in the our little fire stove I and wrapped up the nights with hot coffee and sweet treats. Just because it’s a busy time of year doesn’t mean we can’t have calm gatherings that aren’t centered around the actual holiday. Keep living intentionally during the busy times, you’ll be thankful later.
