Nov 9 Hosting | Staple Items Series

Regardless of if we can afford it or not, there is usually a surge of expense when we host. More mouths to feed, more seats and dishware than usual. If you’re deciding to host and you’re providing the food it’s a full task to get the job done. This post is to share a few ways that you can more easily host either with tasks or expense.

Reusable Items Easy to Refresh

A good table cloth goes a long way. They can be easy to spot clean, especially if you spray and then wash the day after the event. They can be versatile, making the same area you always gather in to feel different. A table cloth helps to soften the area.

If you have a variety of seating types you can shift them around to freshen up the space. If you’re bringing in supplemental chairs mix them evenly throughout the tables instead of having all of one type on one end of the table and another at the other end.

If you’re in need of additional seats and tables often, sometimes having a few smaller tables that can be moved around outside and inside allows us to get more use out of the item. It can also create a little more interest and movement and help the same area to look and feel different if you have repeat company. I bought some of these tables for a dinner I hosted and I’ve used them countless times since.

These florals from afloral have provided so much beauty and haven’t changed in the year I’ve had them. When I’m done with them as a part of my light fixture I’ll take them down and vase them. aFloral can feel like an investment up front but they last and look remarkable.

Sometimes hosting urges us to provide for more. The good news is that if it’s something that we love to do 1 large investment per experience eventually allows us to be well equipped with items we need to support the entertainment while our friends and/or family are over. What a gift! Then we can spend 1/4 as much on just the pretty things and the feels like a fun little treat.
